Description:

This course will provide an overview of federal and state practices utilized for green building.  We will discuss Executive Order 13123 which requires federal agencies to make use of Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) to reduce energy use and cost in the agencies’ facilities and operations.  We will also discuss specific contract clauses in federal supply and construction contracts which require contractors to certify that the components incorporated into the final product or building are listed in the Energy Star program or Federal Energy Management Program.  We will also discuss the use of recycled materials in federal projects. Finally, we will provide an overview of state “green building” laws in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada that promote or require green building practices.

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2009 Seattle.
