Description:
According to the EPA’s report to Congress in August 2007, the energy used by the nation’s servers and data centers in 2006 is estimated to be 61 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) or 1.5 percent of the total U.S. electricity consumption. This represents a total electricity cost of about $4.5 billion. With numbers like these it is hard to ignore the impact data centers have on our quest towards going green. This presentation will discuss what drives data center power consumption and what the industry is doing to improve data center efficiency.
