Singletouch Corp inks deal with Chemco for data capture platform

Phoenix, AZ and Calgary, AB – Singletouch Corporation, developer of a comprehensive data-capture platform for electrical contractors in industrial construction, has secured a significant new customer with Chemco Electrical Contractors Ltd. The deal will see Singletouch roll out its comprehensive data-capture product line across Chemco’s entire organization.

Headquartered in Alberta for over 40 years, Chemco is focused exclusively on the heavy industrial construction sector and is one of the largest companies of its type in North America, capable of handling projects in excess of $250 million dollars and with a peak work force exceeding 1800 employees.

During the first quarter of 2009, Chemco implemented Singletouch as a pilot project on one of its major pieces of business, which resulted in significant cost savings. This success demonstrated the obvious benefits of the Singletouch solution and convinced Chemco to make the investment in an enterprise-wide rollout.

“During the pilot project, we were able to reduce the invoice cycle on one of our biggest accounts from fifteen days to less than one day using Singletouch,” said Todd Halina, corporate procurement manager, Chemco. “While the actual benefit from implementing the Singletouch solution throughout the company is yet to be determined, we have already realized an improvement in efficiency and expect excellent returns on our investment in the Singletouch software.”

Singletouch is a comprehensive data-capture platform for electrical contractors working in industrial construction that enables real-time input of information in the field one time, easily and accurately thus eliminating the paperwork headaches that have plagued the industry. Details collected in the field are instantly accessible at head office and seamlessly integrated into backend systems, expediting payroll, accounting and project reporting.

“Singletouch will help us achieve such significant savings by reducing inventory leakage, providing better job cost control and overall process standardization across our company,” said Halina. “We also expect to win more business by being able to demonstrate greater cost control to prospective clients.”

Singletouch’s technology consists of four components a Windows platform called Singletouch Office, a web portal called Singletouch Jobsite, a mobile, handheld data-capture solution known as Singletouch Mobile, and a touchscreen data-capture solution known as Singletouch Terminal.

Chemco’s solution will comprise of the full suite of Singletouch products and will be rolled out across all Chemco’s projects, encompassing more than 1600 electricians in the field. The product is designed to improve Chemco’s business in three key areas:

1. Procurement, where Singletouch will streamline the procurement process, delivering fast, accurate reporting and real-time inventory capabilities.

2. Reports, where Singletouch will provide real-time executive, customer and project management reporting, increasing Chemco’s reporting depth, accuracy, and speed of delivery to customers.

3. Business processes, where Singletouch will standardize Chemco’s corporate business processes across all its sites, as well as standardizing training and reporting.

“In the past, our IT implementations have been costly but provided little in return,” added Halina. “With Singletouch, I am confident that we have a company wide solution that will provide full payback in a very short period of time.”

“Securing a major industry player such as Chemco as a customer is a huge validation of our vision for a workplace where data need only be entered once, and we believe that the savings it expects to make with Singletouch can be achieved by any company in the electrical contracting business,” said Marty Hilsenteger, Singletouch CEO. “Chemco is a great example of a company that is putting the field first when it comes to deploying new technology, a practice that we believe many companies in this sector would benefit from adopting.”

Singletouch expects to complete the rollout of its solution across Chemco’s business by mid-2010.
